Nearly all works concerning the nature of the consciousness or the self are written from a perspective firmly rooted in New Age goobledygook or some interpretation of Eastern mysticism. Usually it’s the latter. They all spew the same general idea that individual consciousness is an aberration that must be remedied through the submission of the will and the ultimate dissolution of the individual into some assumed great cosmic consciousness or god. This is not the case with Dr. Aquino’s MindStar. MindStar approaches the mysteries of consciousness from a premise that the individual consciousness is something to be examined, appreciated, and actualized. MindStar explores the concept of individual consciousnesses and their relationships with one another and the world through history and beyond. Dr. Aquino leads the reader to consider the idea of the multifaceted soul or Mindstar - which is not the moment to moment sense of awareness created by thought and sensory perception - but a "purely-metaphysical locus of conscious existence (MindStar)" that can’t be known through the physical senses- but through developing a sensitivity and awareness to the shadow it casts on everything else. Of special note is the chapter on Egyptian MindStar Emanations, which presents a dynamic map or model of the individual consciousness which can be activated by the conscious reader to provoke personal experiences of the soul or Mindstar. This chapter is alone is worth the price of admission. This is one of those books which reveals more with each rereading. Dr.Aquino has pulled out all the stops here. As he writes in the preface, it was written in manner “tongued with fire.†There are relevant topics explored here in a depth that I have not seen in any other of his public published works. You need not have read any of the author’s prior books to dive into MindStar. Although this book is another of Dr.Aquino’s gifts to humanity, a companion to MindWar, this book is not for everyone. A life affirming approach to the mystery of consciousness that champions the individual will not be a popular read in an age that frowns upon individuality in favor of a watered down collective that sacrifices quality and creativity. For a few this book may be their personal King in Yellow, to a few others, perhaps you who are reading these words right now, this book may be precisely what you need right now. I really enjoyed this book and can’t stress its significance enough to those in pursuit of the mysteries of consciousness and the Will to Power.This book is a true Necronomicon.
All right, I know how it sounds. However, I am not a member of Temple of Set, any occult order, nor affiliate of Mr. Aquino. In fact, I didn’t know him or his work a year ago.Then I read MindStar and bang. This book is unique on so many levels. Don’t expect anything ordinary. Style of writing, structure of chapters, etc. – pure uniqueness. Now, this is surely not for everybody. Its like black obelisk in the middle of the snowy plateau. Unnatural, outrageous, but still aesthetically beautiful, even deeply touching in its own way.Mr. Aquino make some very bold statements at the beginning of the book. “Uhm, all right,†I said to myself. “No way he will deliver what he promised.â€But he delivered. And more. I have a major in philosophy and find his philosophical concepts highly interesting. On one side, they are astonishingly simple, minimalistic and very, very bold. On other side, they are concise, coherent and logical. Its hard to find holes or incoherence in them. I don’t say they are bulletproof, but the ratio between depth, brevity, coherence and implications is considerable.What a difference by comparison with 99 % occult books. This is another level. Also, few mental exercises, which are hinted here, are extraordinary simple (not always easy) and absurdly effective. I say absurdly, because we are accustomed to bizarre, exotic and complicated techniques, rituals and ordeals from common occult books. Not here. Techniques are so simple that you will laugh first. “Again, no way this will deliver,†I said for a second time. But give it few months of exercises and you are on another level. Like warp drive of Star Trek. Not in delusional sense of occult mumbo-jumbo. In a sense of your real, verifiable mental abilities, scope of awareness and impact on real world.I didn’t believe in immortality (of separated individuality) before reading MindStar. Even didn’t dream about it. But ideas of this book resonate with something deeper within you. When you finish reading, it’s like a shrapnel in your brain.
